AR2822 May 15, 2021
Hello all: this morning good seeing with the jetstream finally south of us. I still have to process a lot of data but this is a first experiment with the HaT fitted with the 0.7 focal reducer, the Solar Spectrum filter and a newly acquired PG 9.1 Mp CCD camera. It is a mid field, pardon the basic processing but I think the set produced interesting results.
Hope you like it.

Very nice work Franco. Your setup worked very well. Your disc images easily surpass mine today. What size HaT do you have? The C8 Edge model?
That jet stream must have moved south over me. My seeing was considerably worse today compared to yesterday and Thursday.

That’s a heck of a nice setup, Franco. Nice images too. Just cloud and showers here.

Nice results Franco! I have the same camera. Is it the edge HD 0.7 reducer you're using?

Thank you James, Stu, Mark, Jochen, Maurits and Peter for your kind words. James: this is not a competition. I look at this as a form of personal expression, all images presented are great and they reflect some of the personal interests of the member that presents them. We all learn from each other and this is what this forum is all about, at least for me.
Mark: yes, that is the reducer.
I have been working on this three image mosaic of a AR2822 close up. This was done with the HaT and a Quark Combo at f/27.5: the seeing was good but borderline for high res.

Franco,
I agree with you fully here. It's not a competition but it is certainly a great opportunity to learn so when I see someone with similar looking images as mine but are a bit different, sharper, better contrast etc I wonder " How did he/she do it? What scope or equipment did they use. What processing trick? I am a newbie to imaging so I have always got questions
Personal expression it is but I use imaging more as a way of documentation backing what I see visually. Or at least that is the idea.
And we all have fun doing it!!

Thank you Terry, Eric, James and Raf, greatly appreciated. James: you may consider yourself a newbie but your images show the enormous progress you have made in a very short time. The rest is detail that you pick up here and there in the forum, tips about processing, equipment and combinations of hardware that work well together. Sometime it takes years, depending on how much time you put into it. I think you are doing fantastic.

Beautiful images, Franco. That sounds like a very capable setup you put together. Glad to see the solar spectrum back in action.
