May 12th - Ha Light

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

I snuck a short session in on the 12th over lunch, but swamped at work and just finished processing the images tonight. I was glad to get more images of the new AR's and was surprised to see the large proms on the southern limb too. I was limited for time so I only ran the Ha set of filters.

First image is the full disk through the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800Ha solar scope and ASI174MM camera:

I setup the modded CR-150 OTA and double stacked DSII etalons with the B1800Ha for higher resolution images of the more active regions. The ASI290MM camera was used for these images: The first image is AR2822 and another small active spot to its south-west:

To the south of this large AR was AR2823:

There was some new activity starting to appear in the NE as well:

The final image was the disturbed region in the south that was starting to rotate off the disk:

The seeing was getting very poor by the time I was through the disk series of images and the best attempts at the proms were a lost cause! Thanks what I get for starting at 1pm.

I hope everyone enjoys these! Questions and comments are always welcome.

Brian

Those look really good. Nice detail is shown in those active regions. I love the bright orange color as well!

Excellent! Nice prominence catch, they really show off on the southern limb. Will try to sketch the more modest proms of today :). Time tables, not to talk about weather, partly rule our lives. Nice you got this in!

These came out really well Brian. I love that large prom at the bottom, you caught it perfectly. I also like very much the orange coloring of the Ha disk.
