Belated May 16th Ha Images

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

My last solar session was on Sunday May 16th, and work has kept me busy everyday only allowing a limited amount of time for chores at home a a little image processing. I have most of the session processed and posting the better series of images that I have. It is unfortunate to have some nice solar activity and zero time to get any views or imaging in this week despite mostly clear days.

The first image is the full disk composite taken with the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800Ha and ASI174MM camera:

The balance of the images are through the modded CR-150 OTA fitted with a pair of Lunt DSII etalons and B1800Ha blocker, and the ASI290 camera with ah 1.3x barlow. The star attraction of the day was AR2822:
AR2822-2.jpg

and AR2823 was still a nice target in the mosaic of it near the SW limb:

There were several filaments visible on Sunday as well:

Although the selection of proms did not offer any large ones, the smaller proms showed well in the above average seeing (for me). The SSM reading averaged in the 4 range:

I'm hoping to have some clear skies this long weekend (Monday holiday) to start enjoying the views of AR2824!

Take care everyone,
Brian

These look great Brian! Know what you mean, busy at work here too, and also weather has been very cool and wet here meaning just not been able to see the sun.

Mark, Arne, and Maurits...

Thanks for the comments and feedback on these images...always very much appreciated :bow

Mark, we can take some of the cool and wet over here...the past year has been quite dry (drought last summer, below average snow, and now another dry spell), but it has allowed us to get most of the crop planted here in the past 2 weeks (normally takes a month). Due to start cutting hay this week, so I'm sure the rain will start! We went from night time frost and snow in the air 2 weeks ago and the past week has been in the low 30's C for the daily high and mid teens for the low. You have to live here to appreciated the variability

Very well done Brian, a great variety of images, all beautiful. My favorites are the second from the top for processing and the mosaic, but the prom shot also came out very well.

Raf, Stuart, and Alexandra...

Thanks to each of you for your comments and support...always appreciated :bow

Alexandra, we went from spring (two weeks ago) to low 30's C on several day in the past 5 day stretch...summer weather. The dry weather is to end with rain overnight, and back to slightly below seasonal weather the rest of the week. I'll just be glad of a slower day if it rains to catch up on paperwork!!!
