May 23, 2021 AR2824 WL to Ha

Post by Astrophil »

Hi All,

Today was a nice day for imaging the sun and I made an early start of it. So many videos so little time to process so for today I have a white light and one H alpha. Not wanting to waste the time while the etalon heats to temperature, I made a quick animation of the process. The proms and the other regions of interest will have to wait until later.

Phil,

All three of these are excellent.

Did you notice the Ellerman bombs in the animation at the edge of the big sunspot? I notice that they originate from what appears to be slightly brighter granules. I have heard of flare kernels being seen in sodium D line and it makes me wonder if Ellerman bombs may have kernels too.

An excellent idea, Phil. Looks great. This really is beautiful display of how the chromosphere relates to the photosphere.

Thanks for this.

Thank you all for the kind comments. Maybe we will see a smoother animation of an etalon as it heats up.

That's terrific Phil, by doing that you can see which way the material in the arch filament is flowing (left to right) in the blue shift :hamster:

What model of SolarSpectrum do you have?

:bow :hamster:
