May 24th - Ha Series - added iamge

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

I had another set of test images but missed including them in the original post. In this case, I used the Quark and 3x ES focal extender on the Stellarvue 110 for the 2 images that are shown below:

Original Post below:
As the spring rush at work continues, I am running behind with posts :( This post covers some of the images taken on Monday May 24th...a holiday here and I didn't have to spend much time at work so I had a long session to test out the Daystar filters and do my regular imaging with the modded OTA. These images highlight the activity visible in the full disk and hi-res images form the mod.

My first views of the sun with the LS80T teased me with the numerous features that Ha offered. The image below is a composite of separate disk and limb images through the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800Ha solar scope and the ASI274MM camera:

Most of the disk detail images were through the modded double stack scope using the CR-150 OTA/pair of DSII etalons/B1800Ha and the ASI174MM camera. These first images used a 2.5x Powermate to capture the two names AR's that were on the disk:

I also did some images with the 3x Explore Scientific Focal Extender, which are shown below:

A final test I ran was with the 5x Powermate for this mosaic of AR2824:

I would say the 2.5x Powermate produced the best disk images in this session, but it isn't a complete comparison as I did not do any prom captures with anything but the 3x extender.

I will post some images from the Questar filters a little later.
