28May: Waving goodbye to AR12824/12826
Hi Everyone.
Here are some H alpha images of the disappearing ARs taken with the C8 Edge / Daystar 0.6QPE system at about f/30. There are two on-band images taken with different camera gamma settings. A slightly less contrasty gamma was used to try and capture the two surges evident in the picture. In the more contrasty image (taken ~20 minutes afterwards), there was some interesting streaming between the two spots in AR12826 (at the limb). The off-band image was taken at a detuning of ~0.8 angstroms to the blue, showing a number of Ellerman bombs. Seeing was mediocre so detail is lacking but it was my only "kick at the can".
Cheers.
Peter

The off band image really shows the spicules well!! I see a couple of Ellerman bombs in there too.

Excellent shots for such a seeing conditions. Contrast in the Ha core is my favorite. And the off-band image is very illustrative.
BTW. Have you ever think about adding about 0,7A Lunt LS50FHa etalon (not a mini red colored version)? Such a double stack helps a lot against mediocre seeing. I believe that in a visual mode it will be a killer combination.

Re: 28May: Waving goodbye to AR12824/12826
Thanks everyone.
Valery: I have had lots of frustration trying to double stack the Lunt LS50FHa with the Daystar Quantum. I’ve tried numerous optical configurations (collimated beams, telecentric beams) and have always been plagued by banding from the Lunt. Almost ready to give up!
Cheers
