23 May H-Alpha animated gif on AR2824 (CAK images added 4Jun)
The weather has been poor over the last week.
Finally found some time to process the video recordings taken on 23 May 21. The object was AR2824 . The imaging jig was a C11 fitted with an ARIES D-ERF (used at full aperture) and a Daystar Quark Chromosphere. Overall I made 37 recordings from 9:30 to 10:05am local time. I made the following animated gif from 33 good recordings:
This was how a typical single frame looked like:
I am happy to see the evolution of the various filaments and fibrils. What other solar features can you make out from the animation?
You can do a right-click to see the gif in full resolution.
Cheers.
Alfred

Re: Hi-Res H-Alpha animated gif on AR2824 (New variant added)
I have added a 150ms delay between frames and make it non loop so that the reader can have better control to see the evolution of various features in the half hour duration:
You can do a right-click to open the gif in a new tab and click on "reload this page" to start the animated gif to see the development of each feature of interest.
Comparing the 2 version, which one do you prefer?
Hope to hear from you.
Thanks.

Hi, Alfred
I always look forward to your work and this is no exception.
How do you get the linear features in your image to be so smooth? Is it through stacking many frames or is it the result of very good seeing ?

Amazing animation! I don't remember if anyone has the same scale animation of the sunspots active group in Ha. A lot of high res pictures - yes. But no such detailed animation.
Congrats, Alfred and thanks for your efforts and sharing this with us. And, please, continue to post them again.
Valery.

Thanks, Franco, Alexandra, Peter, Eric, Arne, Alexandros, Richard, Lou and Valery for your kind comments.
My C11 has been on the CEM 60 mount in the garden, under 3 layers of covers when not in use. It has been there for 24 months. Our weather is humid, hot with lots of rain. I should be seeing some deterioration of the Optics soon

Re: Hi-Res H-Alpha animated gif on AR2824 (23 May 21)
Hi Lou,
I do very little pp, mainly due to my poor knowledge and lack of effort to learn to improve my skills. In the hands of an expert, I believe much better images can be derived from the video recordings.
From Valery, I learnt to capture the video with low exposure (to freeze the seeing) and low gain (less noisy). All 33 videos were recording with:
Exposure: 3952 µS
Gain : 25232
Camera: Basler acA1920-155um
From Alexandra, I learnt to apply denoising at the earliest possible stage of the post processing. I use Neat Image for denoising.
In Photoshop, I only adjust level and contrast. That is all

Re: Hi-Res H-Alpha animated gif on AR2824 (23 May 21)
Dear Alexandra,
I did not realise how good the seeing was. In all, 33 out of 37 recordings were used to produce the animated gif. I ought to be grateful for good seeing. The following is one of the 4 images that I did not used.
Many features cannot be seen when the seeing get worse.

Going through the recordings, I see some other images taken on the same day:
I will be posting more soon, including CAK images.
Cheers.

By the time I started CAK imaging it was 10:30am local time and the seeing had gone south. Here is two of the better images taken with the same C11 with a 9" mask and a pair of Alluxa filters fitted in a skybender:
stacked 25 frames from a 2000 frame recording,
Stacked 40 frames from a recording of 2000 frame recording, With light processing
