2021-06-01 - AR2827 med res (HA/WL)

Post by JochenM »

An almost summerlike day here today (how fast things can change!). Seeing was actually pretty good as well, so decided to try and go for some higher res work. HA/WL came out quite nicely, CaK ended up being a blurry mess. Two out of three; I'll still take it.

AR2728 looks to be developing nicely. One rather sizeable spot along with some smaller ones are easily visible, with material flowing between them observable in HA.

Setup:

HA: 150mm achromat, Quark Chromosphere, 35nm Baader H-Alpha, ASI174.
WL: 150mm achromat @ 120mm f/25, Baader Herschel Wedge, Baader Solar Continuum, ASI174.

Thanks for looking!

Hi, Jochen. Nice capture. Did you use the front end full size ERF for Ha image? I notice you decreased the aperture to 120mm for WL image, what about Ha?

In this case, HA was done with the full 150mm aperture. I just use the 35nm Baader filter as a sort of mini ERF (placed on the nose of the diagonal). It keeps everything behind it safe/cool (for imaging at least; not sure I would fully trust it visually).

Jochen, great pictures. Beautiful color and tone.
When you shoot in Ha you don't use an aperture filter, just a sub-aperture filter?

I just use the sub-aperture filter (2" Baader) as an ERF indeed.

Yeah, we got some of that heat here over the past few days as well. Have a tan already (or well, different shades of red :D ).
