Sun in Ha, WL and CaK 4th June 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

Just a couple of disks and closer views of the two active regions today. A bit frustrating with a ribbon of cloud exactly where it shouldn't have been and drifting along its length over the Sun with blue either side. It took ages during the best of the early morning to clear (I'm sure we've all experienced that situation  )

Anyhow, when the Sun did eventually clear the band of cloud I managed to grab these although by this time the seeing conditions were deteriorating rapidly as the heat was building. My WL images all ended up in the trash apart from the one shown below taken at low magnification. Hi mag was a washout.

Beautiful images Stuart :hamster: :bow I know exactly what you meant, as I drove in and out of Manchester this morning I could see it was beautiful blue sky everywhere apart from the eastern sky. I thought it would have annoyed me if at home imaging and thought of you and hoped further north it wasn't like that. Oh well, let's hope for tomorrow :)

Sounds exactly the same conditions as I had Stu! Was blue skies at 4.30am, and then by 5 the cloud appeared and didn't break till 3pm by which time the sky was doing an impression of a pan of boiling water. You got some nice results though considering. I'm aiming for silly o'clock in the morning to see what I can capture clouds allowing...

You’re describing my last imaging session perfectly, Stu! You managed some excellent results despite the pain.
AR2829 looks really interesting in H alpha. Hope I get a chance to image it.
Cheers.
Peter
