Some more CaK shots.

Post by smerral »

CaK shots of today's AR2827 and 2829. Scope was the Altair Astro 102 ED-R stopped down to 70mm. Filter was the Lunt CaK B600 and camera the ZWO ASI120MM. The stopping down really has improved the image.

Beautifully done. They make me want even more a Lunt CaK filter.

These are really good Brian! Stopping down a scope when observing in CaK is the way forward.

Terrific images :bow :hamster: yes the TEC140 is horrible in CaK at 140mm, stopped down to 100mm and it is amazing :)

Thanks folks! Mark, as regards the stopping down, what about Ha? Or does that make much difference?

It works with CaK mainly because of the inherent spherical aberration of refractors when used full aperture, also CaK is 1.6x more sensitive to the seeing than Ha. I sometimes stop down in Ha if seeing is really bad, but this is rare.

Thanks Mark. That clears that one up. :)
