June 5 2021 CaK Ha 2827 2829

Post by LeoD »

Hi all,
Saturday session was non-surprising with a seeing around 2", some moments dropped to 1,5", but I got a fair result imaging FD in CaK with 100mm f10 at full resolution 5496×3672, ASI183mm camera. With good enough 60% QE at 400nm. CaK closeup - TZ-4, 174mm. The rest of Ha was made with 130/7+Quark, almost quiet AR's 2827, 2829 and some prom activities.
thanks for looking
Leo

Thanks, Franco, Mark, Terry, I apreciate your comments.
I tried this time also with 130/7 Lunt80 DS mod, but I got grid pattern with asi183mm camera on FD, and than made some closeup shots with 4x till the turbulence at midday became inappropriate to make proper comparison of the Lunt mod with Quark. Well, next time.
regards
Leo

Just a thought Leo, try doing the full disk with the 100mmf10 stopped down to 60mm. It will make for absolutely perfect critical sampling with the 2.4um pixels of the 183, you'll also find it a lot more seeing friendly too...

Thanks for all your kind comments!
Mark, I agree with you about critical sampling in Ca, 2.4um with f15, it was clear visual effect of improving picture while placing the diaphragm before the objective. Anyway I like the combination of FL 910mm with 183chip fits exactly full disk in full resolution.
Make a right click to look FD in 3992x3992 pix.
Although seeing became weak, I found one stack to present from the later session I made with D-ERF+130/7 Lunt80MT DS mod and TZ-4. Just to compare with the previous shot made with Quark. A bit less resolution, darker DS (5.7ms, gain105, 152fps - Quark vs 15.7ms, gain148, 63fps - DS), better visual contrast matching Ha CWL. Again, a seeing got worse than before with Quark.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Leo
