June 10 - Sunrise Eclipse

Post by MapleRidge »

Good morning everyone…

Well, the eclipse started off as promised but low cloud on the horizon limited the views soon after the sun rose. I grabbed a number of pics through the little 72mm William Optics scope and the Canon 60D, and have attached a few of the better (based on a quick look)…might clean them up a bit later but I have to head into work now.

If you are in the path to view it, I hope you have clear skies!

Thanks to everyone for all of the comments and feedback on the eclipse pics :bow

I figured the horizon objects and cloud would add to the scene, so I didn't make a big effort to find a perfectly clean horizon. Sorry to tell Stu that I only travelled about 250m up the road to find this spot, not the drive that he reported

Awesome Brian. Absolutely beautiful! It was very briefly visible here this morning right at sunrise but clouds prevailed...

Thanks for the comments everyone :bow

The sun was still to bright for the eye until it rose into the thicker clouds, so the naked eye didn't enjoy the views the same way. The camera allowed short exposures to get these views. I had no solar filter on the scope for these...not until the sun rose well above the cloud layer did I need to put a solar film on the front of the scope.

I was luck because the clouds thickened to cover the who eastern sky until mid morning.
