Animation: The End of the NE "floating Prom" of 13 June 2021
Hi all,
The seeing was better and I started with the animation captures of the NE prom (called "the floating prom" by James earlier). The problem was that for the 35 first captures I forgot the Gamma on at 100 (after contrasting to focus). Therefore, the first half of the animation (that also had the best seeing) could not be saved by processing and the effort to make my first one hour animation failed. It happens... Nevertheless, I can share with you the last 36 captures made during 25 minutes.
Lunt130MT masked @102 mm, Blue wing of H-Alpha for the first photo. And the animation... PEASE give it the time to load properly. Hope you like them.
Best wishes,
Alexandros

Alexandros,
That first photo looks like a white light continuum image. I love the last one. That floating prom got sucked right back in!

Yes! As far as I understood from a previous discussion we had by the end of May in the following post:
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=31951&p=293626#p293626
...when we are completely off band towards the blue end of H-alpha at the far Blue Wing of H-alpha, we get an image very similar to WL, but in reality we look at layers just a little bit upper than the Photosphere layer. The result is very similar, but some people "prefer" the Continuum WL because the granules appear more contrasted aesthetically and more "boiling". Therefore, I think it is very close to WL, but not exactly.
If I am wrong, some people here will correct me, I hope.
Best wishes,
Alexandros

Alexandros,
That then reminds me of the sodium d line filter. It too shows an area just above the photosphere as shown in white light and gives a very similar image but adds a little detail particular to that emission line. To that area very close to the photosphere.

Thanks a lot Christian!
It seems I was lucky to capture the moment even with half the frames of the originally captured. ;-)
Best wishes,
Alexandros
