AR2833 and FDs in various lights 22nd June 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

The morning started off beautifully clear, giving me a great opportunity to observe/image across the spectrum at various image scales, although, as is often the case, the seeing conditions let things down and some of the closer view images came out a bit soft. Best not to over-sharpen in these circumstances.

Anyhow, here are the resulting images.

CaK FDs on a 72mm f6 stopped down to 40mm.

Closer views of AR2833 (or AR12833 if you prefer)

2.5x Barlow

Closer still using a x5 PowerMate, pushing my luck. This is a stack of stacks to try to get the best image I could under deteriorating conditions.

Finally, the same region in green light (540nm) with a Lacerta Wedge and Tecnosky 125mm refractor.

Great images, Stu, excellent work. H-alpha is particularly beautiful and well processed.

Very nice set Stu! I was greeted with the eastern sky cloudy just after dawn today so wasn't able to capitalise. Fingers crossed Wednesdays forecast is right and I get a chance then.

Stuart,
I love all of your images but your CaK images stand out to me. I lack CaK capability as of yet and CaK is not a visual wavelength anyway so I find your CaK images quite informative.

Thanks!

James

Really nice images Stu. The 2.5x and 5x Ha are especially beautiful. “Stacking stacks” ? How many stacks did you stack?
The colored white light (green light) is very nice. You hit a great color that is pleasing and brings out great contrast.

Hi David,

I took seven SER sequences, processed these to produce seven tiff images and stacked these.
