My biggest project to date

Post by Gingerfish »

Almost 6 hours worth! 339 movies = 1.93TB. Each movie took over 7 minute to run in AutoStakkert...🤯 So yeah, it took a while to process. To be honest, I'm not sure I will do it again

I wish I could fix the wobble!!! Any tips? I tried PIPP and ImPPG, no good :(

Taken with my Lunt50, asi178mm, Baader Q-Barlow 1.3x (working at 1.4x)

I messed up and uploaded the instagram sped up versions! Fixed now

Trying a full disc timelapse is quite a feat :bow :hamster: well done!!
Have you tried aligning in ImPPG on the solar limb? I ask as you should see the rotation of the Sun over 6 hrs. Alexandros was having this problem and GreatAtractor suggested this and it sorted out the problem. Only an idea.

Unfortunately ImPPG won't stabilize such a wobble... yet. But I've been already thinking about adding derotation in the future.

My software:
Stackistry — an open-source cross-platform image stacker
ImPPG — stack post-processing and animation alignment

This is impressive and certainly a good idea !
Is it done with an equatorial mount or azimutal ?

Excellent work Chris and congratulations for your patience and work in that!
If one day I have the ASI1600 for FDs, I may try this.
ImPPG has been very successful in aligning all my animations so far, including the long one of 3 hours. Of course they were not FDs. I don't know if this makes the difference.

Do you improve your captures with ImPPG before aligning them with the same software? Just an idea... This is the procedure that works for me. Autostakkert!3--> ImPPG curve/convolution --> ImPPG alignment

Anyway, I suppose you will keep the frames, since there must be a way and you may resolve this in the near future. :-)

Congratulations once more and best wishes,
Alexandros

Thank you Alexandros!

Full disk imaging is a little different I think. I think it depends on the frame AS chooses as a reference. If it is slightly distorted, your whole image will be a little off. So you end up with the wobble when creating an animation. I have never had a problem with closeups

Frames are being kept! Not doing all that work again!
