Saturday Afternoon in Ha

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

Great to see all the images of the recent activity increase, including the flare event that some caught. I had more cloud than sun most of Saturday (July 3rd), but a late afternoon clearing had me pull out the PST to see what was going on and the views inspired me to open the dome and do some imaging. I had limited time to do any setup and imaging as Sandy and I had plans to go out for supper now that we have partially opened the COVID limits a little more. As a result, all the images were taken with the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800Ha double stack scope setup.

The first image is a full disk composite:

I added the 5x Powermate to try to get some higher resolution images. The seeing was not as good as I thought and the 3x would have likely been a better choice, I am still happy with the way they turned out. The first image is a mosaic that covers the SW quadrant with AR2835/2836 and several filaments:

The second image set is set on the NW quadrant where the remains of AR2838 were found on the limb as well as some nice filament features:

Next is AR2837:

The final frame is set on the NE quadrant where a bit of activity is starting to brew...maybe more to come this week?

I would have liked to do more imaging, but I had already pushed my time limit to be ready to go to town. It was a good trade-off, as we hadn't been out for a meal since early in the new year and it was great to have a nice meal on the patio and not have to clean up dishes afterwards ;)

So far today the clear skies have not materialized, so will see if I get any more images this weekend.

What a great set Brian, I love the full disc :bow :hamster: I am glad to hear you have a PST too, I didn't know that :) Also glad to hear you have been out for a meal, I think it is January or February 2020 I might have last had a meal out, I'm off for my second vaccination today so hopefully I will be a bit safer in 3 weeks :)
