July 12 2021 WL only.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is from 14:30 to 15:03 UTC. The skies are mostly cloudy. Seeing is fair to maybe a bit above average. The temperature is 73F.

Astro-Tech AT72EDII w/Altair wedge and 540nm filter. 24x, 47.5x and 72x ( WL )
AR12842 is visible in the far NE as a single spot showing umbra and penumbra amidst a scattered patch of faculae. No other spots or pores are seen within it. The SE shows a tiny spot with a single nearby pore within a faint E-W patch of faculae. This is AR12841. AR12839 is visible near the NW limb as only a patch of faculae. I can also see a double patch of faculae faintly in the SW.

The fine solar granulation is visible today.

Carpe Diem!

James

Better yesterday than today. Today I am under an overcast cloud deck with drizzling rain.

I must admit James, that the amount of rain over the last few day where London itself has had much flooding, but it has helped me to complete the ground-work for the new mini-obsy, with just one small job left, so the cooler and wet-weather has its' advantages.

Cheers
Terry

James, thanks for keeping us posted. Unfortunately, I am writing this post quite late, but better late than never. AR12842 I was also able to clearly see in Ha. AR12841 I still don't understand that I see a stain or processing artifact :)

Ivan

PS I am always looking forward to your phrase at the end, will you see granulation or not.

:) That usually depends on seeing and clouds!
