Sun H-alpha 17.6.2021.

Post by Lagonda »

Our Sun in H-alpha spectrum. AR2833 is visible and some filaments. A few small proms are visible on the edge.
Image taken with Baader D-ERF 135mm + TEC 140FL + Baader TZ3 + Solar Spectrum RG38 0.5A H-alpha + ZWO ASI 174MM. Seeing was good to very good.

Thank you Mark. I am trying to get some more surface details with post processing. When seeing is not great it is difficult to cetch some fine details. Although you can see some things visually quite well.

Very nice imaging Alan :bow :hamster: great to see another comparison :hamster: interesting that you use a TZ3 though, why not the TZ4 :) A TZ3 only gives you f23 and you need over f28. I have the same 135mm ERF (125mm visible) but have a TZ4 to give f30.

I know that Alexandra. I have variable iris on D-ERF so maximum aperture is 113mm (giving me f/26 at best or slower). Minimum is 13mm. So I can regulate F/ratio but I reduce the aperture. The other reason for TZ3 is to have full solar disc on this filter and when I use TeleVue Nagler 31mm I can see the whole Sun in the field. That is quite impressive for almost 3000mm of focal length.
I am planning to get TZ4 in the future with 0.3A filter. That is why I asked you about visual observing proms with 0.3A filter.

I think these are excellent images, shows those proms, surface detail and filaments too Alan.

Well done and CLEAR SKIES
