Hello folks,
A friend of mine borrowed me his Lunt 60 and I wanted to try differences with mine 50mm model.
This is the result, quite impressive the difference, to me.
Maybe with 60mm I spotted the CWL better than with the 50.
What do you think about this comparation? What are the differences your eyes pick up from the two pictures?
I'd glad to hear your opinions.
Thanks everybody

Re: Ha FD, 29/7/2021 - Lunt 50 vs Lunt 60
Hello Davide,
Both scopes have produced an excellent FD-image - importantly using the same camera.
The left/60mm image is marginally better than the 50mm assuming that the Etalon's are tuned for the very best/sweet-spot.
Logically the Lunt 60mm will be better than the LS-50, but not always...

I like this comparation, the Lunt 60 is much more expensive than the Lunt 50, but the images are that not, they are very close in details.
Of cource the Lunt 60 is the winner.

Maybe there is an element that do not play a good role in favour of the resolution comparisation topic: the sampling.
We know that correct sampling for 2.4 pixel size is f/9 for 656.3nm wavelength
Lunt 60 is nearer than 50 for correct sampling: f/8.3 vs f/7
(I love the Lunt 60 much more than my little 50...)

Re: Ha FD, 29/7/2021 - Lunt 50 vs Lunt 60
Maurits has reminded me of the price-difference between the two and as usual the price often dictates the quality.
Now that there is a Lunt-40mm Ha and up to a 300mm version, one wonders what can come next, but the Bank-buster version requires a little more than just money to get it worthwhile running - as a lot less cloud and bad-atmospheric conditions, not too mention a decent tracking mount...
This reminds me of a previous topic - which has now re-surfaced today...

I think both images are very good indeed, obviously the 60mm is better than the 50mm but I would be very happy with either Also, etalons vary between each other. I bet you would get a different result again if you tested one 60mm with another 60mm

Nice shots and comparison, Davide! It would be also interesting to compare Lunt 80 and Lunt 60 for the full disk.

Re: Ha FD, 29/7/2021 - Lunt 50 vs Lunt 60
Thank you all for the replies!
I scaled the take made with Lunt 60 to compare the details among both takes.
Are details sharper in 60mm than in 50mm for more precise focus or just for the sake of resolution reached by sampling?
