August 19, 2021 Proms Quantum 6

Post by Astrophil »

Hi All,

It was a nice clear morning to reacquaint myself with some solar imaging. Happily imaging away until the clouds rolled in. Then I realized that the camera I used had previously been set for a small ROI and only about one quarter of the chip was recording. The images were good enough to post but what a missed opportunity.
Serves me right for taking so much time away from imaging the Sun.

Phil

I added a focal reducer for this one. Looks like a roadrunner to me.

They are still nice captures. I notice especially the one of the NE filament. The filamentary detail can be seen within it against the backdrop of the chromosphere.

A beautiful set of images, Phil. Nice to see you back up and running :)

Rapidly forgetting what the Sun is, never mind how to image it. Storms forecast for tomorrow after weeks of cloud and rain.

Thanks for the comments and the encouragement they bring. When imaging isn’t plausible, it’s nice to fall back on the images here, and there have been some spectacular ones recently. Let’s hope the sun comes out tomorrow.

Phil

I only caught some proms today (20th) so I’ll sneak it in here.
