Our star September 4, 2021
Hello all: terrible weather, intense work, hurricanes, poison ivy allergy and surgery to my right hand have kept me from imaging for a month and a half. Now my hand is better and today was my first day imaging: a spectacular day here in New England, dry, sunny with average seeing. I am working on processing more images but will start with the proms, that were quite amazing. Hope to post more images later.

Hi Franco,
I hope all the difficulties are over, and you can often delight us with your wonderful pictures. The ones you posted today are excellent, despite the visibility conditions, the spicules are perfectly visible.

Your weather must be better than in 'Old England' Franco and your handy-work certainly proves that with your excellent captures, processing and colouring of the proms.
Glad you're back to imaging.
Thanks for sharing

Re: Our star September 4, 2021
Franco, you did very well on the prominences and picked up the spicules very well! The image of AR12864 turned out very well. You can see the paths of the magnetic field lines!
I hope your hand heals well.
Blessings

WoW, Franco! Nice detail on that second set of images. Images like this makes me think of how much I cannot see visually.

Re: Our star September 4, 2021
Thank you very much Alexandra, Phil and Stu for the good wishes and nice comments. Yesterday I had a chance to try out the new AZ-EQ5 mount I received a couple of months ago. Apart from the different interface, that will take some time to get used to, I thought that it tracks the sun beautifully, and that should help a lot. I tried it with the Solarmax 90SS: here is an image of the various active regions. The scope was stopped down to 70mm, making it an f/11.4 from its original f/8.8. I am pleased with the results: this scope is a veteran of many battles and never stops to pleasantly surprise.

Re: Our star September 4, 2021
Thanks Franco! I'm looking for a mount as a 'interim' between my very portable (but low capacity) solarquest and the pier mounted (not at all portable) EQ6. The AZ EQ5 is one on my radar - i'm looking for something that is portable (I can take away on the boat with me) but strong enough to take a 100mm triplet and potentially the HaT for 'cruises' to places with more favourable seeing than my home location. It won't be until a 'next year' purchase, but i'm trawling the web currently for options. I'm pleased to hear the mount is happy with the SM90.
