Minor activity in AR2822 (animation)

Post by GreatAttractor »

Seeing on Saturday was medium to poor, but I managed to get something usable out of the RC8/Lunt 50 setup:

It was also the debut of my new Blackfly S BFS-U3-16S2M-CS.I had some residual Newton's rings at the outer FOV, but they didn't interfere with stacking (here I cut most of those parts out). I may need a bit longer screws for the tilter; also, the required tilt changes between telescopes unfortunately. And with the tilter set for RC8, I'm out of backfocus with the 90 mm setup, so I may need to temporarily revert back to the (short) non-rotating Borg helical focuser, until I can shave off a few mm around the Feather Touch. So, for the material below I used the Chameleon 3/ICX445.

After the morning M-class flare (during my breakfast, I was just browsing GONG and saw it), not much happened in AR2822. Just the usual rising/falling of small spikes, and a small surge in the upper FOV (90 mm aperture, 30-second intervals, 1:49 h total):
