Session time is from 14:30 until 15:20 UTC. Considerable high cloudiness. Fair seeing. The temperature is 72F ( 22.2C )
Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x and 21.5x ( Ha )
Today I can see 5 disturbances in the solar chromosphere. AR12882 is visible in the far SW with it's large spot and plage. I can see a filament immediately to it's NW. I can see a plage west of AR12882 very near the limb. It belongs to the new AR12885. I can see two faint plages in the SE. A large filament is seen SW of them at the limb. I can also see a small faint plage in the NE. A group of filaments are seen NW of it.
I can see prominences on the NW, SW and SE limb. The largest is a faint diffuse one on the NW limb.
The mottles are seen without difficulty today.
Orion 70mm Solar Telescope 25x and 50x ( WL )
Today I can only see the single large spot of AR12882 surrounded by plage on three sides. The dark umbra still is surrounded by a nice penumbra. West of it I see AR12885 with it's circular ringlike faculae and two small spots on it's eastern side. I can see a tiny facula marking the location of the receding AR12884 very near the SW limb. East of it lies a larger but much harder to see faculae. I can also see a patch of faculae in the NE. That makes 5 AR disturbances seen on the photospheric disc today.
The fine granulation is visible but soft.
Carpe Lumen!
James
