NEW AR288(6) SPOT AT THE FAR S.E.LIMB - 17-10-2021

Post by EGRAY_OBSERVATORY »

:hamster: The big AR2882 has fallen over the N.E.Limb, but the Solar-disk has not gone blank as far as spots are concerned, as James has just enlightened me to the fact that another spot has just appeared in the opposite corner (S.E.) just within the limb. :band

Thanks James for spotting that before me, as although I had just checked SDO, I saw the large plag area to the south of the spot, but not the spot itself. I'll order a new pair of specs...

In fact this is quite a large dark spot, so no doubt will prevail (hopefully) for a while and hopefully give us more to savour this next week/+... :bow

Terry

I caught it visually. When I first looked at the SDO images I missed it too!

Nope, but I discovered it in the scope! My favorite way!

Yes of course James, you can get the very latest live-action (subject to weather) - compared to a few minutes delayed display from SDO, so well done.

Thanks Maurits and the latest imagery shows that at present, this appears similar to the AR2882, that only the one largish spot is associated with this still unnumbered AR288(6) spot - at datum.

Thanks Franco and Alexandra.

This newbie has now been numbered AR2886 - as expected.
