First, the ups:
The sun was more active than I've seen it in a while with proms, active regions. and filaments.
Seeing was mediocre. I used an AR152 with a Standard Quark Chromosphere for the images below.
Then, the downs:
AVX mount declination hand control weirdness
The mount tracks very well in RA but slewing (especially at slow correction speeds) is haphazard.
When I try to correct drift in declination, the image jumps suddenly and then settles down and cuts your recording short
since the image goes way off position.
I tried adjusting the backlash (has minimal backlash now), updating the firmware, greasing the gears, switching hand controls and balanced the tube carefully but the motion when I tap the declination buttons shows occasional sudden jumps and I can't record more than 800 frames. For some images below, I just let the image drift down in declination without using the hand control to correct this drifting.
I sent a message for Celestron Technical support to see if they had any other suggestions apart from replacing the declination motor and decoder board ($127 US) which I would do myself once someone that has them.
Lou

Fabulous images Lou I know I am certainly not the world's best technical support but have you checked the power supply? My EQ6 started doing really weird sporadic jumps and altogether weird random movements. I found out that it was because my battery pack was failing (end of it's life). I bought a new Celestron powertank and never had a problem since.
