Session time is from 13:54 to 14:10 UTC. The skies are mostly cloudy with high thin clouds. The seeing is below average. The temperature is a cold 37F ( 2.7C )
Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x, 41.5x and 50x ( WL )
I can see 4 active regions on the photosphere this morning. AR12894 in the far SE shows a fair sized spot with visible umbra/penumbra. I can with a close look pick out two pores just to it's SE. The faculae is visible to this system. AR12893 at the CLM shows a single spot. The umbra is fragmented into three tiny parts within a common penumbra. Two of the components are dark and easy to see. The other is more difficult. The SDO HMI continuum instrument shows that the fainter component is also actually double putting the umbral fragments at 4. AR12891 in the NW is visible as a single tiny spot surrounded by fainter faculae. I can see a new patch of faculae in the NE. SDO shows a smaller fainter patch to it's south that I cannot make out, probably due to clouds. I see no spots or pores there.
I did not notice the granulation at all.
Have a good weekend everyone!
James

Super report James, the spot in the SE looks like it has a bright ring of faculae around the spot, could you see that?

Great job, James, I am amazed how you manage to remember everything in such a short period of time and prepare an interesting description.
When I watched Franco's session today, I saw that AR12893 was kind of divided into parts, I wondered if James could see it, and wow, you could, and even with only 15 minutes, Bravo!

Re: November 6 2021. Another WL Observation.
Alexandra,
Seeing through clouds it was hard to pick out fine details. I could see the faculae though. I need to remember to look specifically for the bright ring around the spot. Better seeing and higher magnification would certainly help me on this. Lately the seeing has sucked!
Ivan,
I have a lot of practice on memorizing what I see and I often take notes at the scope of what I see. I have been doing this for many years with deep-sky, lunar and planetary and white light solar. All previously hand written in notebooks. Now I do everything digitally. I do check out the GONG and SDO imagery first before a session so I have an idea of what to look for. But sometimes I still miss stuff and I sometimes just can't see it.
Maurits,
You are so very welcome!
Terry,
Thanks and Welcomes!
