Saturday Sun 13th November 2021
A cloudless morning here in the North-West of England.....makes a nice change to be on the receiving end of some decent weather locally...
First up are my CaK and Ha FDs in mono and colour. The main active regions AR12894 and 12895 look nice and bright in Ca II K and show some lovely filament structures in Ha.

The seeing was quite steady and good enough for a couple of closer views of the two main active regions in Ha on my 150mm DS Lunt 35 mod.

I tried to take a closeup view of AR12894 in calcium K, but it ended up too blurry. I guess the conditions weren't really up to it at shorter wavelengths.
As always, thanks for looking.

Stu, great photos, it looks like the visibility was good! The disc in Ha is so deliciously crunchy. The close-ups are flawless.

Re: Saturday Sun 13th November 2021
glad to see you got such a good session Stuart we had cloud all day here in Cheshire and I was cursing. I could see on Sat24 there was one hole in the cloud which stayed all day, just over Preston, you were the blessed one

Re: Saturday Sun 13th November 2021
Very nice work Stuart. I rely often on you and Mark for good CaK views! It looks like Lunt has removed their CaK modules from availability. Now it looks like DayStar will be the dominant supplier of CaK filters to the public. The Baader K-line filter may be useful for faculae but is too wide band for true CaK features like super granulation and prominences.

That’s a shame, James. I hadn’t heard Lunt was removing their CaK modules from the market. I’ll have to be careful not to drop mine.DeepSolar64 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 12:46 am Very nice work Stuart. I rely often on you and Mark for good CaK views! Oh dear…I hadn’t taken note of the full extent of the blue void and assumed you’d have been under it, Alexandra. You’re always welcome to set up here if this happens again….much like when we witnessed the Mercury transit in a session from my garden a few years ago; the resulting image of which went on to win in the APOTY competition

Re: Saturday Sun 13th November 2021
Stu,
I later found the CaK modules on Lunt’s site but they have went up immensely in cost. If they price themselves outta the market DayStar will have the only ultra narrowband one left. Solar Spectrum doesn’t make a CaK filter do they?
James
