December 4 2021 Observations. Continuum Quickie!

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time was around 16:15 UTC. The skies are mostly cloudy. The seeing is fair. The temperature is 64F ( 17.7C )

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
I could see four disturbed regions on the continuum photosphere today. AR12902 in the NW displays three small spots at the SE corner of a patch of faculae. One tiny pore is seen just northwest of the three spots on the high resolution SDO HMIc image. I could not see it visually. The last associated patch of faculae associated with AR12898 is visible close to the limb in the SW. I see no spots or pores there. AR12904 is visible as a single spot amid faculae in the SE quadrant. The NE shows a difficult patch of faculae just off the limb.

The fine granulation of the photosphere is visible without difficulty.

Carpe Noctem!

James

We actually had a C class flare around this time and I observed in white light due to clouds. 😠 I think it was from the departing AR12898.

I'll do my best to help you. Clouds are hindering me a bit lately.
