Sunspots Dec 18th

Post by JohnW »

Dec 18th SE Australia. Very hot and trying conditions here today (38°C) - I could only stay outside for 10 minutes to capture these two pics of the row of sunspots. Both single exposures taken thru a 81 mm WO refractor with herschel wedge at 540 nm with a canon 550d camera. Taken at 0.47 UT (around noon here). Thanks for viewing, cheers for Xmas.

It amazes me how well you do with a DSLR, especially in such a short time. And 38C has only happened that I can remember only twice here in western North Carolina in my 57 years of life. However go a few miles out of the mountains south of me and it's more common. That's hot for sure! And you are obviously in summer!! ;-)

These are excellent captures John and well-showing all the spotted areas.

I have to wait longer for taking images through my digital-camera as the Sun is too low, except for an hour or so and when eventually our current weather allows.

Thanks for sharing
Terry
