Winter Solstice at NewGrange. Bru Na Boinne, Ireland.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

I have always wanted to go here.

You Brits and Irish are blessed to have so many ancient sites so close at hand. In the U.S. we have few sites that will compare.

Happy Winter Solstice and Summer Solstice to all those Down Under!

Blessings,

James

I bet they aren’t. They are booked up and have lots of people there.

You need to be a Druid or sun worshipper for access :) I think we are the latter

I am both!!

Don't worry. I am not too weird. I see modern druidry as more of a spirituality and not as a religion, at least for me. I am a very nature oriented person and find it sacred and am Christian specializing in Celtic Christianity. I was a Council Member and course mentor in the New Order of Druids and a Co-Leader in our local druid order " The Grove of the White Oak " for a number of years. I have also done tree research with the US Forest Service and the Eastern Native Tree Society. Behind Astronomy, the study of Trees ( Dendrology ) is my favorite science. In Astronomy, Solar and Deep Sky are my favorite interests.

I love ancient history, especially European and the Middle East and Theology as well.

You would probably be able to get tickets then :)

Of course you could make a henge in your own garden and line it up for the winter solstice Sun, if I had a big enough back garden I would give it a go. It doesn't have to be ancient to tell the time :)

I have thought of doing just that!! I do know a woman in Leicester, near Asheville who does have a stone circle in her large yard/garden. The Grove of the White Oak used to meet there quite often.
