Sun in Ha and CaK 5th Jan 2022

Post by Carbon60 »

A couple of disks from this morning in Ha and Ca II K. A bit quite with only one main filament and a few smaller filaments and proms, although the interesting new active region (presumably AR2925) is clearly visible in the south east, just popping over the limb. Let's see what that brings.

First up CaK FDs

...and Ha FDs on my TS Lunt 60 PT. A little patchy, but hey....

Thanks for looking.

Hi

I had a similar view of the prominences with the 90mm F6.7 Triplet and Quark Prominence. And a view of details round the spot with the Chromosphere.

Cheers. Andrew.

Stu,
I have snow west of me in Tennessee. They are not predicting much here, mostly rain. Plenty of clouds today though. We are in the same boat today.

Hi

With the Prominence the brighter prom at the top was very distinct with good contrast and sharp edges. A bit dimmer and thin looking in the Chromosphere.

The striated one below was just visible. I did try various red filters and a polariser to try and make it a bit more contrasty.

There were a few small little spikes round the edge.

Cheers. Andrew.
