Sun on Jan 8th 2022

Post by JohnW »

Jan 8th, SE Australia. I managed to get two pics of the sun at different wavelengths this morning through a gap in the clouds.
Both single exposures with a Canon 550d camera. First is at 540 nm through a WO 81 mm scope with herschel wedge. Second pic is through a Lunt 100 mm scope at Halpha wavelength. The active regions are numbered and there is a small prominence on the SE limb. Taken around 1 hrs UT.
Thanks for viewing.

Nice images, John! Your images show more detail than I could see visually today.

Nicely imaged, John. AR2924 is looking increasingly complex. Bodes well for flare activity in the coming days.

Excellent shots John! Glad the sun is out down under, it is just raining for me up north.
