Sun FD in H-Alpha and CaK 14th of January 2022
Happy belated new year everyone!
After not being able to do any solar imaging for almost 2 months due to poor weather and low solar altitude, I finally managed to image our favorite subject again yesterday. It was a nice warm and clear day, but the Sun is still very low in the sky and the seeing was pretty bad. Anyway, it feels good to be back at solar imaging and I’m very much looking forward to imaging the increasingly active Sun this year!
FD image in H-Alpha using a Coronado 60mm/BF15 w/Beloptik ITF, stopped down to 50mm, Baader 35nm H-Alpha and ASI 178mm mounted on a SkyWatcher SolarQuest.
FD image in CaK using a William Optics ZenithStar 61II, stopped down to 46mm, Lunt CaK 1200 module, Coronado 2x CeMax and ASI 183mm camera mounted on a SkyWatcher SolarQuest.

Thank you very much everyone!
Alexandra: Good point... 10 days after perihelion is close enough for practical purposes, but would have loved to managed to take it at the exact date. :-)
Best regards,
Arne

Re: Sun FD in H-Alpha and CaK 14th of January 2022
Great images, Arne. It can be very frustrating at this time of year when conditions don’t cooperate. 2 months is a large chunk of time to be out of action.

Thank you very much Stuart and Ivan!
2 months is a very long time... my skills feels rusty and it takes some time to get back into the imaging-routine. Really looking forward to longer and warmer days.
Best regards,
Arne
