Another cold day but a little better seeing! 1/21/2022

Post by rigel123 »

Probably the last day for a while due to tomorrow starting out at 8F and then clouds rolling in! Seeing was a bit steadier today and the breeze was down a bit so a toasty 22F during imaging and I went with the DS this time.

Brave man in the cold weather, Warren. Very nice images, so it was worth the effort in freezing conditions.

Thanks Mark, Brian and Christopher! I was a bit worried when I first hooked things up. I first did a visual check in SS mode to make sure I had not bumped the tilt tuner and all looked fine, so I added the DS unit and the display on the screen looked like my Jacquinot Spot had changed shape and coverage in the FOV although the ghost image was where I had left it before. Banding on the disk looked awful on the screen for awhile. After a while it evidently settled down, I assume adjusting to the huge difference in temps from being brought outside from the inside, since the images don't appear to show much banding at all.

Great job Warren. Very beautiful pictures. So many filaments, I really like it. And all this is done in such a cold.
