Trying out GIMP

Post by AndiesHandyHandies »

Hi

Downloaded GIMP on my new W11 laptop to have a first play with images.

Tried curves on a Gong image today.

Also played around with a MapleRidge image where there was some leeway for stretching.

I would like some raw image streams please which Rodastro can train me to process. Single sun images or features. Not wanting to mess with montages.

Cheers Andrew.

I use GIMP in editing my images. It does well. I would not quite hold it equal to Adobe PhotoShop but it's amazingly close and above all FREE of cost!!

Andrew, if you haven't tried it yet, tick the split view box , it's a great feature. I also like the default unsharp mask with split view.

Hi,

I have been trying the split view.

I compare my stretches to the original Gong. And Rainiers images. His proms show fainter details.

I will look at the unsharp mask.

Cheers. Andrew.
