Hi everyone...

High pressure returned on Sunday, bringing clear skies and an opportunity to observe once the clouds cleared off in late morning. The air temperature slowly dropped as the day went on...started my solar work at about -12C and when I finished my deep sky work at midnight it was down to -23C.

The Ha images were taken through the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800Ha solar scope. The full disk images were captured with the an ASI1600MM camera and 1.6x barlow:

It was great to have a nice offering of detail and no time constraints to image I changed the camera over to the ASI2902MM and 3x focal extender to image the activity in greater detail. The first mosaic covers the SE quadrant where AR2934 was located:

The second stretches form the NE limb across the disk to AR2932 which was approaching the western limb:

The final AR was 2933 which as barely visible on the SW limb:

There was also a long filament across the southern disk:

For the last few months the Lunt solar scope has been riding piggy back on my C14 as the new observatory construction required me to disconnect power, ethernet, and partially dismantle the support structure of the old dome. As of now, the new observatory building is complete (save for some spring paint and touch-ups that the winter doesn't allow), but the new dome is delayed until March or so. With that in mind, I decided to take the C14 off the mount in the big observatory and install the Orion Eon 130ED OTA in its place. The next few months will be focused on solar and deep sky imaging, and I can piggy back the Lunt LS80T for my full disk solar and get back to using the Orion scope for WL/CaK and Ha with the modded double stack system. The Lunt scope can be swapped out easily at night to install an Lunt 80mm ED or William Optics 72mm scope for wider field deep sky imaging or act as a guide scope for the larger refractor.

After about 3 hours of dismantling, re-mounting, and re-configuring all the wiring I had the system up and running late in the afternoon. I had enough time to grab a few shots of AR2934 through the Larger scope. The first is with a Lunt Solar Wedge/Baader Continuum filter with the 3x focal extender and ASI290MM camera:

The sun set behind the observatory walls as I finished up the CaK capture...but looking forward to using this scope more in the coming months. Once the new dome actually arrives and is installed the Orion OTA, LS80T, and the smaller ED refactors will be relocated into the new dome and the C14 can go back to its old home

Very nice images Brian. I especially notice the triangular prom with the big void under it. My iPad image got the void and the general shape of the prom but of course lacks the finer detail your image has.

You'll get there with your observatories. By summer all will be settled in and fine. How good is that Orion EON 130? A friend of mine almost bought a smaller version but could find few reviews on them.

James, the EON scope is pretty good in my opinion. My budget for high end APO's is limited and this one fit my purposes when I saw it come up for sale used. I didn't see a lot of reviews posted either, most had to do with the lack of warranty when compared to other brands. Other than that, it is working for me.

Ivan, the next month is typically the coldest part of the winter here as we have lost the residual heat that has radiated off the the landmass but it takes time to start to warm up as the days get longer. Not unlike the interior of any large continental landmass where you are We get wild swings in temps though as the jetstream will swing north or south and change the airflow we get form the cold arctic high to a southerly flow form the south making it go form -15C one day to +5C the next, then ease back to where we were The Great Lakes surround Southern Ontario and they are warmer with no little ice cover which contributes to some intense lake effect snow at time.

Thanks for the detailed answer Brian. We don't have such extreme temperature fluctuations. We are in the temperate continental climate zone. Although in February we have the maximum rainfall.
