8 hours of video May 17

hello,

the previous message (life and death) was just a small part of a video from lucky enough.

there you will have to turn into a chameleon, because it tumbles everywhere on the Vimeo video around 20s look at the top left it's very fast, the timestamp will allow you to see the speed.

this video is of rather poor quality, I reduced the format from 1892 to 946 pixels.

the .Gif on my site must be better but it too is reduced in format and moderately compressed supports full screen

You now have the world record of longest duration of solar animation!!!! ;-)
I wonder who else could play banjo for so long. ;-)
So much activity in your video.
I have two questions for you:

1) I very much liked the timestamp. Can you please say how you have incorporated it in the GIF?

2) I am making a kind of research to locate areas with the best seeing in my country. Therefore, can you please tell me the characteristics of your area, which provides such good seeing for such a a long time? Are you located close to the ocean or inland? Are you in high altitude or not? Are more or less with no houses around you or in a city? the more you can tell me about your location (ideally in a way that I can locate on the map), the more helpful will be.

Great video; I love the "ignited gasoline puddle" flare.

Consider making MP4/H264 videos instead of GIFs. Unlike video hosting sites (Vimeo, YT), which re-encode what you upload and in our (solar) case ruin fine details, by encoding yourself you can fully preserve quality by fine-tuning the bitrate. I described how to do it in this post.

For your GIF, I used FFMPEG and this command:

ffmpeg -i 17\ mai\ 2022_07h03mn56s.gif -vf "crop=946:588:0:0" -pix_fmt yuv420p -vcodec h264 -vb 10000000 output.mp4

(had to crop by 1 pixel in height to make it even) to get a 44-megabyte video (17% of original size), the encoding took just a few seconds. If you stick to H264/YUV420p format, the video can be played in any modern player & web browser. If you host the videos yourself, you can embed them in a page using the HTML video element.
