Sunspot 1944 in white light

Post by donboysail »

Finally some weekend sun and was blessed with this enormous sunspot grouping. As usual I share my solar imaging on 'Nightskiesnetwork.com by streaming what my camera is capturing.

The equipment for this image was a Celestron 102GT mounted on a iOptron MiniTower Pro and the camera was a Mallincam SSIc attached to a Lunt White Light Wedge. Filters used were a Baader Continuum and a Astronomik IR. 500 frames were captured and processed with Registax 6.1. The second image was a single frame capture. I hope you enjoy my take on this beauty captured yesterday.

Thank you Ralph, Mark, Alexandra for your kind words. I'm sure if I was into post processing I would have more refined images. My joy comes in providing live images for broadcasting on Nightskiesnetwork.com (NSN) and also the for the fellowship that one finds there. All of you that do imaging can display your live images on NSN and also provide others an opportunity to learn from your expertise. We have broadcasters from around the world and you can find broadcasts being conducted at any time of the day. And best of all it is free.

Eric,

Thanks for your comment. I agree with you, but what was my intent with the colorized image really didn't come across due to a lack of explanation The single capture image, though it is of lesser quality, is exactly what is streamed live onto the web and it was included to show what one would see on NSN in real time.
