New images with my SHG

Post by Phil Rousselle »

hi everybody
my last solar observation was on july 3. I'm a very lazy boy now

the usual 3 wavelengths

a Dopplergram (without rotational shift)

and a not very good magnetogram.

Very impressive!

Fantastic images.

Please can you explain how you obtained the magnetograph?

Wonderful images, Phil. (Welcome back!)

Can you tell me the magnitude of the field in the magnetogram and the corresponding shift of the Fe line?
What field polarity does black / white represent?
I'm assuming you're doing this, as you describe on your site, with a polarizer as well? I'm gearing up my instrument for these studies also.

Cheers.
Peter.

Happy to see your responses

carbon60 and Peter, I have a page who describes the method and give som explainations as polarity and scale.
http://www.astrosurf.com/spectrohelio/m ... phe-en.php
If it does not reply enough to your questions, i'll try to continue here

Peter, the lower intensity of magnetic fields that i can record is about 100 to 50 gauss. This magnetogram is not good because the intensity scale is not the same on the whole disk (problem to get a good focus of polarized beams)

Phil
