SHG build, Lucky find or not

Post by Martin_S »

Hi everyone, I've been working on a SHG project for a few months. I was browsing the internet looking for an adjustable slit for my collimator. as the one I made for myself left a lot to be desired. Surplus shed were out of stock, If they had one it would probably cost around $55AUD shipped to Australia . looking on the Ebay Australia site I saw a Student Spectrometer for $95AUD + postage of around $32AUD . It's the same as the Surplus shed one that sells for $225USD . The seller was open to offers so I offered him $95AUD including postage, which to my surprise he accepted. My initial intention was to copy the slit and relist it, as I have a small machine shop in my shed. But now I'm wondering if it might be feasible to use some of the parts in a SHG in a motorised dobsonian style mount and use servo motors to do adjustments for various wavelengths.

Cheers

Martin

Martin,
Well done!
You should have contacted me... I have a couple of SS slit assemblies which have been used in SHG builds as well as some slit edge plates..
Let me know if I can help.

Thanks Alexandra and Mark . Ken, your filter should arrive today :). So I'm going to be busy in my shed on my solar projects.
