sm60 double stack
sm60 double stack
hi,is it possible to buy a sm60 double stack etalon and a bf 10 and use them on an st80 with the correct adaptor to fit the etalon over the end.
solarmax 60 etalon
is it possible to buy a solarmax 60 etalon and blocking filter and use them with an adaptor on an st80,also would the aperture be 80mm or 60mm because of the size of the etalon.
thanks in advance.

Re: sm60 double stack
Well kind of, 'maybe'... It depends whether the etalon in question is actually a primary etalon or a double stacking etalon. Primary yes, double stack I would say no as these are designed to be slightly 'offband' of the Ha centre line, and tilting will not necessarily get it back on band, especially without banding issues...

Re: sm60 double stack

Re: sm60 double stack
I use a SM40 double stack unit on the front of an 80mm scope and use a BF10
on the back-end. Works fine for me.
Best wishes,
David

Re: sm60 double stack
I do have a solarmax 60 scope mark and that's the reason I bought the extra double stack etalon but iwas wondering if I could take the bf10 off the solarmax and use it with the double stack on a skywatcher st80 with the correct adaptor for the end of the tube.marktownley wrote:That's designed to be used on the end of an SM60 scope

Re: sm60 double stack
Yup, you could. It may or may not work (in the sense you get an 'on band' image with the ST80). If you do go that route I have a specific adapter for this etalon to fix onto a scope, PM me if you want further details on this.
