PST Etalon Adjustment PIN

Post by Solar B »

Ah don’t know what I’ve done here !

But it’s one of those I wish I’d left alone !

I took of the rubber grip to expose the small

screw and loosened it ... now the tilt will go

a long way and won’t stop plus I can’t seem

to be able to relocate the small screw into

any location where it will take hold.

I leave my PST etalon open. No shell nor ribbed rubber band. I use a watchmaker's screwdriver in one of the [screw] drive holes.
Then I can both tune and tilt the etalon ring gently sideways for the most even brightness and surface clarity across the field.
It is probably a bit silly because dust can get inside onto the etalon's outer surface. Though I could use my bulb, dust blower for that.

Rusted,
I do the same thing except I put electrical tape over the holes that do not have the screwdriver in them.

Is this just to avoid tuning off band?

Or is there some other reason?

The electrical tape is simply to keep dust out of the holes. I meant I do the same thing with no rubber ring and using a small screwdriver as the long lost screw.
