Holiday sunshine
I know I am a bit late to the party but here are some holiday photos and pictures of AR12738. All sunrises were taken from my bed in the morning in Lyme Regis, probably the best little town in Britain. First visit and it certainly won't be the last

When we got home on Saturday I just managed to get a couple of snaps with the PST just as the sun was going down between two gaps in the houses opposite. CaK and DS Halpha PSTs / DMK41

Then Sunday morning I woke to cloud just like Stuart but 9am came and it completely cleared for just an hour to manage to get a WL with the Hershel wedge at 5x powermate and in H alpha with the Solarscope and a 3x telecentric and the ASI174.

Beautiful photos, Alexandra, and beautiful place indeed. Google Maps reports several museums there.
Great H-alpha, the orange version is superb!

Re: Holiday sunshine
Very nice set of images Alexandra. Lyme Regis is a lovely place indeed, have been quite a few times for the fossils. A 3x telecentric? Does this mean a rear mounted Ha filter is in the pipeline? I'm eagerly awaiting the return of the sun here in north wales.

Re: Holiday sunshine
Thanks guys I look forward to seeing the film Ammonite with Kate Winslet as Mary Anning which they were filming there two weeks before we arrived.
Mark, the 3x telecentric was a gift from Luca Valantini which he gave me in 2014. I always needed exceptional seeing for it but it works brilliantly with the ASI174 which is much more in scale.
Rear mounted Halpha system! I wish the hubby is fed up with solar purchases at the moment, I need to lie low for a very long time, or I need to get him very drunk indeed

Re: Holiday sunshine
Looks like you had a lovely time on your hols. Did you manage to get on the beach and hunt for fossils? There are some wonderful treasure trove rock and fossil shops around the town. Did you pick up any goodies?
Lovely solar images. I’m just happy for you that you managed to get on the scopes and image the large sunspot for yourself when you got home. It would have been a shame had you missed it.

Re: Holiday sunshine
Very nice images Alexandra. Sounds like a very interesting place to visit. My potentially last opportunity to catch this wonderful spot is vanishing out my 9th floor window of my office at work today. I did manage a few sucker holes peaks visually on Sunday before the rain set in.
Seems you've linked your alcohol purchases to your astronomy budget.

Re: Holiday sunshine
Thanks guys
Christopher
Stuart, yes we had a wonderful time and hunted along the beaches every day. The hubby found a fantastic intact Plagiostoma giganteum after splitting a rock. He then knocked the end off trying to make the rock smaller Found lots and lots of Belemnites, a few fragments of ammonites and some fossilized wood or in other words 3 shopping bags full much to the hubbies dismay
