June 1st images

Post by Astrophil »

I hadn't planned to image today but a quick glance at GONG showed a nice looking surge prom developing so out I went. This was about 14:50 UT. By the time everything was setup and the etalon was up to temperature the show was over. I missed it. Maybe next time.
I did capture a region of disturbance and a prom for my efforts.

That’s the way it goes sometimes, Phil. Usually it’s weather related.....just get set up and the clouds roll in to spoil the show.

Great images. Lots of lovely fine structures in that prom shot.

As always, thanks for the kind remarks. Definitely helps during the slow Solar season.

Excellent resolution at the edge. Fantastic spiculaes.

I see your etalon was somewhat off-band. Spiculaes better seen when an etalon is somewhat red shifted.

BTW. The seeing often is good just before clounds are rolled on.

Valery, you are absolutely correct. I did set the etalon temperature approximately 1.5°C hotter (red) that normal.

Hi Alfred,

Here is a pic of the setup. These images were taken without the Daystar Combo. It was replaced with an extension tube.
