Sunday Sun 9th June-Ha 250mm RCT
An unexpectedly sunny Sunday morning after a really wet and windy Saturday. I thought I'd give the RCT a trial....
Basler acA1920-155um (IMX174)
Full size Aries tri-band ERF
SS Lunt 35 etalon
2.5x Barlow with red filter (Ha 7nm FWHM)
I found the red filter significantly beneficially boosted the contrast (albeit with a loss of image brightness). Much better with, but I guess it depends on the seeing conditions and the ability to freeze the action.
A little activity in the chromosphere:

20190609_250RCT_Ha2 by Stuart Green, on Flickr
These are the best of a dozen SER files.
Thanks for looking.

These are excellent Stu! I couldn't come anywhere close to this detail with the HaT today, the seeing was shot for me.

Great shot from the RCT Stuart
Could you post a pic of how you mounted the etalon on the scope? I'm sure you posted it before but want to refresh my memory.
Thanks,
Brian

Nice trial shots, looks like with big scopes one has to learn a lot.
Best regards,

Re: Sunday Sun 9th June-Ha 250mm RCT
Well done some nice detail in there Stuart I am guessing the seeing will never be that good after a big storm front but at least you managed to view the Sun which was a better than me. By the time the Sun is over my trees in the morning it was already clouding up.

Re: Sunday Sun 9th June-Ha 250mm RCT
Many thanks everyone. I really appreciate your comments.
As I say, adding the red filter really made a huge difference, bringing up the contrast and making details really 'pop' . I'm wondering about adding a (dare I say it), Quark in place of the plain red filter.

Here's the Lunt 35 mount
and here it is in place in the back of the RCT (actually an earlier version, but it gives you the idea of how it fits)
Hope this helps.

Hi Stu...
I remember the configuration now that you posted it. I forgot how how long the completed assembly was, but it does produce excellent images.

Very nice results, Stu!
BTW Can you send me the best raw stacked image? I guess it can be more deep processed with hope for more details seen.
