Wednesday Sunshine 3rd July

Post by marktownley »

I'm on a roll here, a good few days in a row! Today I decided to stack the SM90 with my LS50 etalon for a double stack view to make any cycle 25 bright points easier to see. Glad I did, as the area that was designated S6205 in the southern hemisphere seems to have a couple more smaller bright points trailing it. Also surprised me how much area the plage at the equator is covering. Camera was the GH3 ICX916M

Next I double stacked with the Quark on the SM90 for a closer view of the regions of interest.

Up in norther polar regions a filament associated with cycle 25 jetstreams was easy to see:

Dropping down to the equator and back into cycle 24 the plage from aprils active regions is still clearly visible and quite extensive:

Going further south, S6205 has diminished in size and activity and now is undesignated on solen. Just about caught the prom which I didn't notice until I was processing:

And all the way at the south pole, the brighter points of polar facualae were just about visible:

And finally, got this cheeky animation of these folk heading towards London Heathrow...

Looks like tomorrow morning will be clear, so will be checking out what has changed then...

Hope you like!

Mark
