Prom group Sept. 7th Quark/Questar
Prom group Sept. 7th Quark/Questar
I hadn't warmed up the Quark since May. Saturday the Quark Combo and the little Questar 3.5 were used to image the nice group of proms. Not many Ha images taken with a Questar are seen here so I thought this might be of some interest. An adequate image none the less.

That is an excellent image there Phil! Assuming you used a DERF up front?

Re: Prom group Sept. 7th Quark/Questar
Thanks Franco and Mark. Yes, I use a Baader DERF up front and a circular polarizer on the Quark to cut some internal reflections. This Quark can produce a bright glow next to the limb on one side of the Sun and requires the Quark to be rotated in order to minimize the problem when imaging proms. Full disks are more difficult with this setup. Luck of the draw I guess.

Re: Prom group Sept. 7th Quark/Questar
Thanks James, Stu, and Brian for the kind words. Sometimes the little Questar does good, contrary to what many folks say. It's a good choice when the disk is so blank and a lot easier than lugging out the bigger scope.
