FD on November 16
Hello everybody: a challenging shoot with difficult conditions resulted in only one image of not great quality
Temperature around 34 degrees, some strong wind and poor seeing. You can see active region 2752 and some very short filaments.
I was thinking: why am I doing this in these conditions ?
Hope you had better weather.
Franco

Maurits: you are very kind. It was actually done with the Solarmax90 Double Stacked. That gives you an idea of the conditions.

Re: FD on November 16
Just above freezing, in the wind.... must be mad . Solar is about sunshine and warmth, maybe a glass of wine in the garden...
You'll be doing this dark sky stuff next at 3:00am, Franco.

Hi Franco,
Good, here is just clouds clouds and couds with rain. Unusual for my area this time of the year.

Hi Franco...
Nice to see you got an image in the poor conditions
We had the raw SE winds here all weekend, did some imaging both days but didn't quite make it to your balmy high Saturday was about -7C and today was -4C while out at the scope. With the long stretches of low activity we have to take every opportunity to catch some sun.

Re: FD on November 16
Thank you Martin, Stu, Eric, Rainer and Brian for your comments. @Stu: deep sky astrophotography is not for me. I really like observing at night but staying up hours fiddling with equipment is not my thing. I tried it once and then went solar. @Brian: you are a brave man. At -7 degrees you will find me snuggled in bed rather than with the telescope.

Very nice, Franco. Braving the elements and returning with a trophy. I haven't seen the Sun since the transit.

Re: FD on November 16
I read your comment 'why am I doing this' and thought, I think think that most of the time particularly during the transit last Monday trying to shield the PST from horizontal gale force wind and hail for a hour and half in a car park. But you got a lovely picture wine and warm weather will come again

Re: FD on November 16
Nice catch, Franco. I waited 2 hours for the clouds to clear on 16 Nov 19 and gave up. It cleared 2 hours after that. The following day I got some average images. Hence I am always happy to get something, even poor quality images.
