Sun 25th March '20

Post by Carbon60 »

There were some really nice proms on show today. They were quite faint, but pushing the exposure I managed to capture some details in Ha on the 150mm/Lunt 35 modded scope. I started with a couple of FDs in Ha and CaK.

Anyhow on to the proms.

All of these prom shots were taken on a Basler acA1920-155um (IMX174) with a 2.5x Powermate. The exposure was 38 milliseconds with a lot of gain, which is way over my standard 6 milliseconds that I usually use with this scope on the main disk. I was surprised that the images weren't more blurred.

The weather reports are excellent for the next couple of days (assuming that the reports are correct), so hopefully more 'fun in the sun' to come.

Thanks for looking.

Stu.

Thanks, Mark. I'm hoping the seeing will get better over the next couple of days. I still need to work on my Ha FDs....

Many thanks, Alexandra and Eric.

These were really quite faint and were difficult to spot, Alexandra. I nearly missed them too.

Excellent looking proms there, Stu.

I can relate to the whole getting them to show up issues. I also only figured it out towards the end of my session yesterday by shifting my exposure time up to a few 100 ms by accident (which made them show up out of nowhere).

Stu!
Your proms look really good. I could only barely see one of them visually.
