Sunny Tuesday 24th March
Another sunny day here in the UK, and one thing Boris does let us do is go in the garden, which is a good thing as it means one can pass the time in the sunshine. Today was warmer, and while the seeing wasn't great it was better than yesterday, with a little more time to play with I decided to do a single stack disk - the Lunt50 etalon and cemax 2x barlow with the 60mm f6 scope.

Next up, popping the Quark on the back to double stack brings out more contrast;

Seeing wasn't up to 80mm in CaK so I settled on stopping back the ED80 to 60mm for the full disk, using a 2x skywatcher barlow to get a full frame, I found out the 2x cemax barlow really has a low transmission in CaK wavelengths, so will be using this just for Ha work.

Switching for the IMX174 chipped camera I went for a 3x barlow to get some closer views at f30 with the ED80 stopped down to 60mm. I just focused on the regions with brighter points, and the south pole to see if I could see any polar faculae.

Hope you like these, more sun forecast for tomorrow, so more of the same, just waiting for something to appear, or, for the seeing to improve so we can look a little closer. Till then, hope the sun is shining for you!
Mark

Re: Sunny Tuesday 24th March
Top shots, Mark. Sunny morning here too. I might get some time at midday after my conference calls to get some FDs and maybe some closer views. Hopefully the seeing conditions will be reasonably okay.

A beautiful series, Mark. Looks like you had a very good session. Today is cloudy here, maybe tomorrow some sun.

Mark, even with lousy conditions your capture and processing of full disk images are very appealing to me. Thanks for the view.

Re: Sunny Tuesday 24th March
Mark, these are really lovely to look at in close up each day the seeing is getting better and I expect tomorrow will be even better. It is also amazing how the forecast is sunny all week but Saturday and Sunday is cloudy, if I was at work I would be fuming, however I have run out of holidays now and I should be at work tomorrow (have to sneak out tomorrow I think). However today we should have been on our flight to Florida, it was very sad for us this morning when we pretended to take off on our holiday and what it could have been like. Finally after emailing, texting etc etc we actually had someone text us back from Virgin Atlantic today to say we will get a refund in the next 90 working days, that's about 4 months!!! progress I suppose.

Re: Sunny Tuesday 24th March
Thanks everyone. Glad Virgin has got its act together Alexandra, cash windfall for the summer... I hope the seeing is better, i'm going to start off with the big scopes and the short wavelengths first today.
